Two Russian cryptocurrency entrepreneurs were abducted in Buenos Aires after being lured to a dinner invitation. The assailants, also Russian nationals, demanded a $43,000 ransom paid in cryptocurrency. A third-party acquaintance facilitated the payment, and the victims were released unharmed within 24 hours.

The kidnappers fled to the UAE shortly after the transaction. Interpol has issued a red notice for their arrest. The incident underscores the risks faced by high-profile crypto investors in emerging markets.
